News Card, Week 3
Do we need a revolution in higher education?
By William
J. Bennett, CNN Contributor
The article discusses the
disparity between the earnings after a college graduate receives
their degree in comparison to the investment they put in towards
their college education. This provoking thought is the foundation
for the idea of revolutionizing higher education. Professors from
several ivy league universities are attempting to educate students
through online technology and even better, for free. The examples
given are initiatives such as Ed-X and Coursera which have started
with their mission to educate just as the Khan Academy has done for
elementary and secondary students. There is hope that education will
become accessible to all those who seek it and not just the few that
can afford to take loans or pay exorbitant amounts of money to get a college
education.
